Deputy Speaker Hawrami welcomes Mir Ismat Mir Tahsin Beg

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Hemen Hawrami on 19 October welcomed Mir Ismat Mir Tahsin Beg, son of the previous leader of the Yazidis, and his delegation. They both welcomed the recently signed agreement between Erbil and Baghdad on normalizing the situation in Shengal and helping Shengal's IDPs to return home.

The Kurdistan Parliament on 4 October held a remembrance ceremony on the third anniversary of the passing of Mam Jalal Talabani, who was the leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and president of Iraq.

MPs question Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister on key economic, political and reform issues

Kurdistan Parliament MPs on 5 October questioned Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani and Finance Minister Awat Sheikh Janab in a lengthy sitting on the state of the region and the government’s policies. The KRG premier and his colleagues presented to MPs on the state of the economy, reforms, negotiations with Baghdad, combating the Coronavirus pandemic, and the situation in the Kurdistani areas outside the KRG administrative area. Mr. Barzani said that soon the Council of Ministers will give Parliament a detailed report on the progress made in implementing the Reform Law.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami conveys condolences on passing of former Garmian Governor Salah Kwexa

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami on 29 September sent his condolences to the family of Salah Kwexa, the former governor of Garmian administration, in the following message:

MPs pass Bill on Responsibility of Government Employees with 71 votes; Speaker says PM and Deputy PM will answer questions in Parliament

Kurdistan Parliament MPs on 29 September passed the Bill on Responsibility of Government Employees. Seventy-one MPs voted in favour of the bill. Parliament has a total of 111 MPs. At the sitting Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq said that in the near future the KRG Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani will answer MPs’ questions in Parliament.
