Parliament publishes data on bills, legislative proposals and draft resolutions in the current fifth term of Parliament until end-2021

14 January 2022 - The Kurdistan Parliament presents the following data on legislative work in the current fifth term of Parliament, until the end of 2021.

Committees' recent meetings - 13 January 2022

Committees worked on bills, met with KRG ministers regarding flood remedies and prevention and international recognition of the Kurdish genocide, and wrote to the KRG regarding the high price and low supply of gas and heating oil.

Parliament’s Presidency announce end of autumn session of Parliament

On 31 December 2021, the Presidency of the Kurdistan Parliament in a declaration announced their decision to end the autumn session of the third year of the fifth term of Parliament, per Article 7 (paragraph 1) and Article 18 (paragraph 3) of Parliament’s Internal Rules of Procedure.

Order of Business for sitting of 21 December 2021

The Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament Dr. Rewaz Faiq calls MPs to a sitting on Tuesday 21st December 2021 at 11am, the 12th ordinary sitting of the autumn session of the third year of the fifth term of Parliament. The Presidency of Parliament announces the order of business of the sitting as follows:

MPs vote in favour of two committees' recommendations on more support for Peshmerga forces to counter ISIS

The Kurdistan Parliament on 8 December 2021 discussed the attacks by the ISIS terrorist organization on Peshmerga posts and barricades. MPs voted in favour of two committees' recommendations to provide more support for the Peshmerga forces to prevent and counter the terrorist attacks. 

Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq's statement on International Anti-Corruption Day

In our efforts to formulate a national anti-corruption strategy and to create a roadmap to end this scourge on society that has exacerbated inequality...in this current term of the Kurdistan Parliament we passed three important and essential anti-corruption laws.

Mr. Gilbert Mitterrand said, “You were a light for Danielle Mitterrand and you can be a light for so many others. There is a saying that the Kurds have no friends but the mountains, but you should know that you have many brothers and sisters around the world.”

The Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament Dr. Rewaz Faiq calls MPs to a sitting on Tuesday 7th December 2021 at 12 noon, the 10th ordinary sitting of the autumn session of the third year of the fifth term of Parliament. The Presidency of Parliament announces the order of business of the sitting as follows:

Parliament passes Law on Private Security Companies, committees present findings and recommendations on students’ demands and demonstrations

The Kurdistan Parliament on 1 December 2021 passed the Law on Private Security Companies. MPs also approved the findings and recommendations of the Higher Education and Interior committees on the recent student demonstrations and their demands.
