Adnan Mufti (Speaker of Second Term of Kurdistan Parliament)

Adnan Mufti was born in 1947 in a well-known Struggling religious Family in Erbil

He has bachelor's degree in accounting

 He was arrested by Baghdad public security in 1971 ,also  arrested several times for political activities by neighboring countries

  In 1963 , he joined Kurdistan Democratic Party's Organizations and he was head of students  at Mustansiriah  University 1971-1974

In 1974, due to the breakdown of relations between the revolution and the Ba'ath regime, he joined the revolution

In the same year, he participated in the establishment of the Aylul Revolution Financial Institution

 After the  of Ailul revolution in 1975, he joined founding Board of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan that established  in 1/6/1975 and has a significant role

In 1975-1977 he went to Syria and engaged in political and organizational work

he returned to kurdistan and participated in new revolution as peshmerga in 1978

 Co-founder of Kurdistan Socialitst party in 8/8/1979 he became a leading member of  Kurdistan Socialitst party which has a significant role in general reconciliation and founding Kurdistani front

He has played a significant role in foreign relations with political, Arab and international forces in Paris, London, Washington, Damascus, Cairo, Sweden and several other cities

He participated in dozens of regional and international seminars and conferences

 In 1995,he became leadin member of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and became head of PUK's Erbil branch

He participated in most of the meetings to resolve the internal war and played a significant role and was an important factor in peace and unity in the meetings in Tehran, London and Damascus, and played a significant role in signing of  Ankara Agreement in 1996

 He was PUK's representative in Cairo( the capital of Egypt) ,he was one of the organizers of the Kurdish-Arab dialogue held in Cairo in 1998

 He has Dozens of articles in newspapers and magazines in Kurdish and Arabic languages

  (He has published two books entitled (Kurdish- Arabic Dialogue) and (Kurdish-Arabic Relations

In 1999, he was appointed as Minister of Municipalities, Minister of Finance and Economy and Deputy Prime Minister of Kurdistan Regional Government

in PUK's 2nd congress , he was re-elected as PUK's leading member then he became member of PUK's political bureau

He has survived three times so far. In 1974 in choman district bombardment, he was poisoned with salium poison by the Ba'ath regime's intelligence in Marga area, Three of his comrades were martyred for treatment He was transferred to London in 2004. He was seriously injured in the terrorist attack in Erbil on February 1, 2004. He remained under medical care for four months

He speaks Kurdish, Arabic, Turkish, Persian, English and French

On June 4, 2005, he was elected as the Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament after the second round of Kurdistan elections
