Parliament Secretary Muna Kahveci conveys best wishes on 110th anniversary of Turkman journalism

On the 110th anniversary of the first issue of the Turkman newspaper Al-Hawadith, my warm congratulations go out to all writers, journalists, academics and intellectuals of the Kurdistan Region, and to Turkmen in particular.

On 25 February 1911, Al-Hawadith, the first Turkman newspaper published its first ever issue and continued to be issued in Kirkuk for eight years. This shows the Turkman nation's activity 110 years ago in the field of journalism, which was a means to protecting Turkman values, traditions and culture.

I hope that this happy event will help to improve the state of of journalism and the media in our region in general, and that the peaceful cooperation and coexistence that we enjoy between all ethnic and religious components in the Kurdistan Region will also be a strong motivation for all Turkman writers and journalists to develop our journalism and to protect and convey Turkman history, identity and literature for future generations.
