Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami bids farewell to UK’s outgoing Consul General Mr. David Hunt

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 30 November 2022 bid farewell to the UK’s outgoing Consul General, David Hunt, and thanked him for helping to develop the important relationship between their nations.

Their discussion covered the political and security situation in Kurdistan Region, Iraq and the wider region, and the importance of Kurdistan Region's and Iraq’s stability and sovereignty.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami said that efforts will continue to prepare for the next Kurdistan Parliament election. Both sides stressed the importance of achieving mutual understanding and unity among Kurdistan’s political parties on critical issues.

Consul General Hunt said that the UK values its partnership with Kurdistan Region and sees great potential for more collaboration.

Mr. Hunt said that getting to know the Kurdistan Parliament, as a vital democratic institution in the Region, was a highlight of his posting.
