Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami at Kurdistan Health Summit says Parliament will prioritise health service improvements

Deputy Speaker Hemen Hawrami, at the first Kurdistan Health Summit in Erbil, said that the Kurdistan Parliament will prioritise improvements in health services and education.

In his speech at the summit on 20th April, Mr Hawrami said that the Kurdistan Parliament is working to support the government’s policies that provide services for all citizens of the Kurdistan Region, especially health services. Over the past five years, he said, people faced and overcame many challenges and he believed that Kurdistan is entering a new era of developing services in different sectors. 

The Deputy Speaker said, “I would like to assure you that in this fifth term, Parliament will push for reforms in all parts of the government, with health and education as the priority. We will start these reforms after the formation of the new government in the Region, and in cooperation with the new government we are planning for the next four years to provide the best services for the people in Kurdistan Region.” 

Mr Hawrami added, “We have to learn from developed nations and we see that the representatives of many of these countries are at this conference. We have asked [Parliament’s] Health, Environment and Consumer Rights Committee to participate in this conference to be benefit from concepts for improving the Region’s health sector.”

The conference was attended by the head of the Health, Environment and Consumer Rights Committee, representatives of 13 countries, KRG officials, university professors and doctors.
