Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami meets Global Samaritan Resources humanitarian NGO

25 April 2019 – Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami today met Global Samaritan Resources, a US humanitarian NGO that has partnered with the Barzani Charity Foundation to help refugees and IDPs in the Kurdistan Region.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami thanked Colonel (Rtd) Michael Bob Starr, Executive Director of Global Samaritan Resources, for supporting Kurdistan’s humanitarian aid to those who have escaped war and found safety and shelter in Kurdistan.  

Mr. Hawrami said that the people of Kurdistan showed incredible resilience in absorbing 1.5 million IDPs and refugees. He also highlighted the international community’s debt to the Peshmerga forces for their sacrifices in the fight against ISIS.     

Mr. Hawrami said that Kurdistan’s model of tolerance and peaceful co-existence between Christians, Muslims and other communities needs the international community’s support.

Mr. Dan Clark, a volunteer supporter of Global Samaritan Resources, said that the world can learn from Kurdistan’s tolerant society and from its accomplishments under great adversity.

Mr. Musa Ahmed Agha, head of the Barzani Charity Foundation, and his colleagues also attended the meeting. Global Samaritan Resources has partnered with the Barzani Charity Foundation since 2015 to deliver food, donated in the US, directly to refugees and IDPs.
