Deputy Speaker Hawrami, committees and KRG Minister discuss Bill on Commercial Advertising

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami chaired a joint meeting of three committees with the KRG Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Kamal Muslim, to discuss the details of the Bill (draft law) on Commercial Advertising.

The members of the Legislative Committee; Culture Committee; and Municipalities, Transport and Communication Committee were at the meeting.

Mr. Hawrami said to Minister Muslim, “Before holding the bill’s second reading, Kurdistan Parliament’s Presidency and the relevant committees are giving the government another opportunity to comment on the bill so that it best serves the public’s interests.”

He added that the Commercial Advertising Bill serves an important purpose and should be passed to benefit the public and fill a legal vacuum in this area.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami said, “After finalizing the joint report by all three committees, we decided to review and amend the draft of the bill.”

Minister Muslim and the chairs of the three committees reviewed every paragraph and article of the bill, and the minister gave his suggestions.

The committees decided to compile all the notes and suggestions on the bill into a report to Parliament’s Presidency, for MPs to consider at its second reading.

The bill was originally scheduled for its second reading in the Parliament chamber on 4 December, at which MPs would give their comments and suggestions on the details of the bill, but Speaker Rewas Faiq announced that the second reading would be delayed because the Ministry of Trade and Industry had asked for more time to comment on it.
