Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq meets KDP Political Bureau members

Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament Dr. Rewas Faiq on 29th July welcomed members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Political Bureau, the party’s leadership body. Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami and Parliament Secretary Muna Kahveci also welcomed the KDP delegation.  

Mr. Fazil Mirani, Secretary of the KDP’s Political Bureau, on behalf of his party congratulated Dr. Faiq on her recent election as Speaker, and wished Speaker Faiq, Deputy Speaker Hawrami and Secretary Kahveci success in their vital work of presiding over Parliament in this fifth term.  

Mr. Mirani reaffirmed the KDP’s full support for Parliament and its Presidency, and the importance of Parliament in enacting laws, scrutinizing the government and approving the budget.

Mr. Mirani said he hoped that Parliament will work for the best interests of Kurdistan Region, and work for all the people of Kurdistan from every background and every community.

Mr. Mirani said that the active opposition in Parliament is a sign of Kurdistan’s and Parliament’s democratic progress. Parliament belongs to all the people of Kurdistan, he said.

Speaker Faiq thanked the KDP Politburo for the meeting and for their support for Parliament, and said, “The Kurdistan Parliament will coordinate and work with the KRG. The majority in Parliament supports the government’s agenda. Parliament will work in parallel and with the KRG to better serve the people of Kurdistan and maintain our region’s peace and stability. Parliament is the umbrella that brings together the diverse people and communities of Kurdistan Region.”   

The KDP is one of the parties with MPs elected to the Kurdistan Parliament, and is in the government coalition.
