MPs vote in favour of extending current Spring Session of Parliament by 15 days

Eight-four MPs on 30th June voted in favour of extending the current Spring Session of the Kurdistan Parliament by 15 days. The Spring Session ends on 1st July, but Speaker Dr. Vala Fareed requested the extension so that Parliament can accomplish important tasks before going into recess.

A Parliament session can be extended if an absolute majority of the 111 MPs vote in favour of it (i.e. more than 50% of all MPs).

The Kurdistan Parliament's year is divided into a Winter session and a Spring session. The sessions can be extended per Article 7, Paragraph 4, of Parliament's Rules of Procedure.
