Deputy Speaker Hawrami attends Berlin Foreign Policy Forum

At the invitation of Germany’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami on 25 and 26 November attended the Berlin Foreign Policy Forum.

During the two-day gathering, at which the the foreign ministers of Germany and Norway gave keynote speeches, Deputy Speaker Hawrami met with diplomats, politicians and foreign policy experts, In his meetings, he discussed the current political situation in Kurdistan and the wider region, and relations between Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

Mr. Hawrami highlighted Kurdistan as a safe haven for refugees and IDPs that needs more international cooperation and assistance for the relief effort. He also discussed the risk of the reemergence of ISIS which poses a major threat to the region and the entire world.

The Deputy Speaker will meet with MPs of the Bundestag (Germany's Federal parliament) over the next few days.  

The Berlin Foreign Policy Forum is one of the leading annual conferences of politicians and experts, and is organized by the Korber Foundation with Germany’s Federal Foreign Office (Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
