Speaker Rewas Faiq's remarks at Koya University conference on drafting Kurdistan Constitution

The Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq on 27 November said that the best way to draft the Kurdistan Constitution is to find common ground and build consensus. She made the remarks in a speech at a Koya University conference on drafting the Kurdistan Constitution. 

Dr. Faiq referred to the legal, historical, and political dimensions of drafting the constitution, and discussed the obstacles that had stood in the way of its drafting at various stages in the past.

The Speaker stressed that the best way to draft a constitution is to find common ground and build consensus on it.

Speaker Faiq said that, as a political and legal duty the Kurdistan Parliament is committed to preparing and gathering the information needed to draft the constitution, and to participating in conferences and debates on it.  

Dr. Faiq said that the borders of Kurdistan will be defined in the constitution, and she asked academics and political experts to use laws and legal principles to help define the borders.
