Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq welcomes Canada’s Ambassador to Iraq Gregory Galligan

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 2 November 2022 with Canada’s Ambassador to Iraq Gregory Galligan discussed the latest political developments in Kurdistan and Iraq and the state of human rights and civil liberties.

Speaker Faiq gave Ambassador Galligan and his delegation a detailed analysis of the current political situation in the Kurdistan Region and the relationship between the constitutional institutions.

The Speaker highlighted the important legislation passed by the Kurdistan Parliament to protect freedom of the press, human rights and civil liberties and to combat and eliminate violence against women and children.   

Ambassador Galligan thanked Speaker Faiq for the useful exchange of views. They agreed on the importance of continuing to strengthen bilateral relations.
