Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq welcomes Sylvie Jacqueline Ndongmo, President of Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 27 October 2022 welcomed Sylvie Jacqueline Ndongmo, President of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF), and Halala Rafi, Head of the Sweden-based Head International Committee for Women's Rights (IKKR) Nina Centre.

Speaker Faiq, Ms. Ndongmo and Ms. Rafi discussed the status of women and civil liberties in general.

Dr. Faiq gave an overview of the laws passed by the Kurdistan Parliament to protect women's rights.

Ms. Rafi explained that the reason for their visit to Kurdistan Region is to launch a project for international cooperation on strengthening democracy and equality. The initiative is by IKKR with the Swedish Institute and local NGO Public Aid Organization.
