Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq wishes Muslims a Happy Jezhni Ramadan (Eid Al-Fitr)

I extend my best wishes to everyone for a happy Jezhni Ramadan (Eid Al-Fitr). We ask God to accept Muslims’ fasting and prayers and bring peace and stability to our country.

On this sacred holiday, I call on all political parties in the Region to overcome their wearisome disputes in a spirit of patriotism and to keep at the forefront of their minds that protecting and strengthening Kurdistan Region’s political status is in the public’s highest interests. It cannot be protected from threats from all sides by merely preaching without taking concrete action towards reconciliation. It requires strong political will, selflessness, magnanimity, and compromises on party and personal interests. This makes us all accountable, as God and our nation watch our actions, behavior and attitudes.

On this occasion, to give the people of Kurdistan some peace of mind, revive the market, jobs and the public’s confidence, and to create an environment conducive to constructive decisions and actions that improve livelihoods and welfare, I believe it is essential that all officials in the official, constitutional and political institutions avoid harsh statements and bear their share of responsibility for creating the right atmosphere.

At the same time, let us not miss the opportunity offered by this blessed Eid to use the appropriate legal measures to release detainees and prisoners who have not been found guilty, whose crimes were minor or have taken on a political dimension, so that their families no longer have to wait and their release gives their children a true Eid holiday, and so that we truly embody the human rights principles and the freedom and democracy for which our people have been struggling for many years.

Happy Eid, I wish you all peace and joy.

Dr. Rewaz Faiq

Speaker of Kurdistan Parliament
