Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami bids farewell to UK's Deputy Consul General Mr. Jamie Hamill, welcomes successor Ms. Catherine Shaw

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 21 February 2023 bid farewell to the UK's outgoing Deputy Consul General Mr. Jamie Hamill, and welcomed his successor Ms. Catherine Shaw.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami thanked Mr. Hamill for his cooperation during his tenure and wished him success. He congratulated Deputy Consul General Shaw on her posting and said that the Kurdistan Parliament is always available to exchange views with the international community. 

Their conversation covered the latest political and economic developments in Kurdistan Region, Iraq and the wider region, the ongoing talks between the KRG and the Iraqi Federal Government on outstanding issues, and the next Kurdistan Parliament election.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami said that the next Parliament election should be held before the end of this term's legal extension, by 31st December 2023. 

They also discussed the good bilateral relations and friendship between the Kurdistan Region and the UK.

Mr. Hamill thanked Deputy Speaker Hawrami and the Kurdistan Parliament for their cooperation during his tenure.
