Order of Business for sitting of 9 October 2022

The Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament Dr. Rewaz Faiq calls MPs to a sitting on Sunday 9th October 2022 at 10am, the 11th ordinary sitting of the autumn session of the fourth year of the fifth term of Parliament. The Presidency of Parliament announces the order of business of the sitting as follows:

Parliament holds second reading of Legislative Proposal to extend its current term, second reading of articles 156 to 166 of Bill on Education and Training

The Kurdistan Parliament on 6 October 2022 held the second reading of the legislative proposal to extend the current term of Parliament for another year, until late-2023. MPs also continued the second reading of the Bill on Education and Training, reading articles 156 to 166.

MPs hold first reading of legislative proposal to extend this term of Parliament, second reading of articles 81 to 154 of the Bill on Education and Training

The Kurdistan Parliament on 5 October 2022 held the first reading of the legislative proposal to extend the current term of Parliament for another year, until late-2023. MPs also continued the second reading of the Bill on Education and Training, reading articles 81 to 154 on quality assurance, inspections and exams, as well as the provisions on private schools.

Parliament holds second reading of articles 61 to 80 of the Bill on Education and Training; Religious Affairs Committee presents findings on Ministry's directive on Koranic learning centres

The Kurdistan Parliament on 4 October 2022 continued the second reading of the Bill on Education and Training, reading articles 61 to 80 on school principals, teachers and other employees, staff councils and school committees.  

Parliament reads articles 38 to 60 of Bill on Education and Training; expresses condolences for death of five Peshmerga in road traffic accident

At Kurdistan Parliament’s sitting of 2 October 2022, Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on behalf of Parliament expressed condolences for the tragic death of five Peshmerga soldiers in a road traffic accident in the southeast of Slemani governorate. MPs continued the second reading of the Bill on Education and Training, reading articles 38 to 60.

Kurdistan Parliament condemns Iran's bombings and attacks on several areas of Kurdistan Region

At Kurdistan Parliament’s sitting of 29 September 2022, on behalf of Parliament the Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami condemned the missile and suicide drone attacks by the IRGC on 28 September on several areas of Kurdistan Region, which killed and injured civilians.

Parliament holds second reading of articles 35 to 37 of Bill on Education and Training, condemns IRGC's missile attacks on Kurdistan Region

The Kurdistan Parliament on 29 September 2022 held the second reading of articles 35 to 37 of the Bill on Education and Training, the provisions on the right to education in other languages, students with special needs, and e-learning. Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on behalf of Parliament’s Presidency condemned the IRGC’s recent attacks on several areas of Kurdistan Region and expressed their condolences to the victims’ families.

Parliament holds second reading of articles 15 to 34 of the Bill on Education and Training

The Kurdistan Parliament on 28 September 2022 continued the second reading of the Bill on Education and Training in Kurdistan Region – Iraq, reading from articles 15 to 34 on the upper grades of secondary school and on vocational and technical education institutes.

Parliament holds second reading of articles 2 to 14 of the Bill on Education and Training

The Kurdistan Parliament on 27 September 2022 continued the second reading of the Bill on Education and Training in Kurdistan Region – Iraq, reading from articles 2 to 14 on the principles and goals of state education, at some points in the presence of the KRG Minister of Education Alan Hama Saeed.
