We are saddened to learn of the passing of Sheikh Ala Ibrahim Sheikh Ala, a Peshmerga veteran, former MP who served in Kurdistan Parliament's second term, and a prominent figure  of Erbil society.

Kurdistan Parliament Secretary Muna Kahveci and several MPs on 5 April 2023 welcomed Mr. Frank Schwabe, MP and the Federal German Government’s Commissioner for Freedom of Religion or Belief, and his delegation.

We condemn in the strongest terms the attack in Jindires near Afrin during Nawroz celebrations that killed four members of a Kurdish family and injured three people, who were exercising their basic right to celebrate their national day.

I hope that this New Year brings renewal, joy and the strengthening of love, tolerance, mutual acceptance and peaceful coexistence between all the diverse ethnic and religious communities in Kurdistan Region.

The Kurdistan Parliament on 15 March 2023 formed a five-person committee of MPs to nominate candidates for commissioners of the Kurdistan High Election Commission. Parliament also swore in five new MPs to replace members who resigned.

The Kurdistan Parliament will hold an ordinary sitting on Wednesday 15th March 2023 to form a special committee on the reactivation of the Election Commission.

The Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament Dr. Rewaz Faiq calls MPs to a sitting on Wednesday 15th March 2023 at 12 noon, the second ordinary sitting of the spring session of the fifth year of the fifth term of Parliament. The Presidency of Parliament announces the order of business of the sitting as follows:

We should focus on achieving greater social equality and justice and greater women's participation in politics and governmental and at all levels of decision-making. It is important that we continue our efforts.

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami, Secretary Muna Kahveci and several MPs on 8 March 2023 welcomed a high-level delegation from the European Parliament, led by Ms. Sara Skyttedal, Chair of the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with Iraq.

I hope that this commemoration will encourage political unity and solidarity, a unified voice, a genuine coalition, and cooperation between all the political parties in order to cement and improve our record and make greater gains for our people.
